Behind the artist
Through the eyes of my creations I express my innermost feelings. The portraits or self-portraits are an empty shell to begin with. They are receptacles that will fill up with feelings, the artist wants to share. There is a fragility in their faces, but also hope. I believe that art should convey beauty but also provoke thoughts about life. The aim of my works is also to show the soul of humanity through the eyes. Melancholy and sadness are things we all feel at one time or another in our lives. They are something we should be able to live with, and express - not conceal. Something we should appreciate... They are something that can help us understand our existence. Normally my works are painted on reused canvasses and old pieces of wood. The soul of these pieces create a synergy to give a stronger expression to my art. The Person Behind the Art: David Juárez Ollé is an artist & designer. He moved from his home town of Barcelona to Aarhus in 2013. In the North he has found peace to develop himself as an artist as well as personally, with melancholy as his daily companion.
